Lugarde was founded by Bertus Wuestman. In his early years, he worked alongside his father as a traditional thatcher. Before long, customers began asking whether he could also build garden buildings. In 1978, Bertus designed and built his very first garden building, complete with a thatched roof. It marked the beginning of what would later become Lugarde.
Over the years, more designs followed, alongside new roof styles, construction methods and materials. What started as a single garden building gradually grew into a complete collection of garden rooms, log cabins, canopies, verandas and garden offices. Today, the same entrepreneurial spirit, craftsmanship and attention to detail remain at the heart of everything we do.
